Title: Test fit 35ís

My neighbor runs 35ís, so I decided to give em a test fit. Jeep drove great, but my 4.56 gears are better suited for my 33ís. Maybe when my current tires wear out Iíll upgrade. When you go to 35" tires you then have to consider upgrades to suspension, gears, brakes, steering, ball joints, and axles.  Sure you can drive it without doing those things, but it's only a matter of time before something breaks, or worse.  Unless you really need 35" tires for clearance reasons, stick with the 33" tires.  A well built TJ on 33" tires can go anywhere one on 35" tires goes.  I've watched this happen time and time again.  FWIW, I'm actually going in the opposite direction.  After running 33" tires on TJs and 35" tires on LJs for years, I'm back to running stock tires 245/75R16 on my 1999.  I do switch to 33" for trails, but drive it everyday with the stock tires.  It's hard to describe, but the more we do to our Jeeps, the further it takes us away from just how fun it is to drive a light and nimble stock TJ.

All sound advice, but I was just basically doing that swap for fun. I do have 4.56 gears, so the power was there.....still need to do the ZJ tie rod. I do like how peppy and nimble my Jeep is on 33ís

Hit the nail on the head.  I absolutely love driving my son's stock TJ.

That's because you got used to driving a motorhome on the trails!  Hahahahaha!!!  :rotf

x2.  Was just thinking about this as I was leaving the Show & Shine.  I love the look of lifted TJs with larger tires and suspension as much as the next guy, but there is something especially fun about having a TJ sitting on 30" tires to zip around town in.  Even with 3.07 gears it really is fun to drive, and feels lighter and more nimble than my wife's 2008 Outback.  On "standard" tires it feels like a go-kart.
