Title: PROPOSED price increases
Post by: wbsjp on May 28, 2019, 03:33:20 PM
Forest service is thinking about raising fees for camping and trail use.
Special permits for PetresMill/Taskers gap from $5 to $15,
Comments to Forest service can be left at, comments-southern-george-washington-jefferson-northriver@fs.fed. or by calling 5404320187. comments must be made by July 8.
Increases would go into effect in 2020

Seems reasonable. Probably been $5 for the last 15 years.

I usually do an annual permit at Peters Mill. I take an atv there numerous times each summer plus the Jeeps a few times. $30 per year. If it goes to $75 per year, I'm probably out. It's not like they provide any services. The camp grounds probably should get an increase, as they are pretty cheap. If they will put that money back into the trails, then I'll reconsider. I like to hike on Skyline Drive, so an annual permit for $50 is worth it, but again, there are lots of services available.
