They have an optional stabilizer that goes in the rear hitch on the trailer. Their smaller tents are loaded towards the front and pretty much naturally keep themselves from tipping. I got the larger tent that spans the length of the trailer, so I got the stabilizer, which works well. You basically get the trailer close to level, deploy it and the give the tongue jack a couple turns to make it nice and steady.

Nice

So I kept staring at the spare tire mounting and just didn't like how it looked or 100% functioned. So I talked to Josh at Manley about mounting it and he suggested a 3 way ratchet strap for mounting a spare. Armed with that knowledge, I ordered one from Safari Straps and it arrived yesterday. Quick trip to the hardware store and I found a small tie down that I could U-bolt to the crossbar. Redid everything this afternoon including the cover tighter and under the strap now, works and looks much better. Plus this could be used to tie down a flat as well if I had one.

How does that work when the lid tips forward?

I would think a mount not dependent on the rack would be more future proof for any given situation. Probably a small issue though.

Regardless, big improvement.

As the lid tips forward, the rack goes with it, so it actually loosens the tension on the strap and let's everything tilt forward enough. Once you close the lid, the tension gets pulled back on the trap and makes it nice and tight. I don't really envision a scenario where the rack won't be there, so I don't think it's a concern.

You still want the water pump I have?  Maybe add a shower to your trailer?

Whats the dimensions on the trailer and weight run?

How much was it out the door?

The tub is basically a 416 copy, so it's just over 4 foot wide and 6 foot long. The weight on mine was 975 on the certificate of origin, the basic trailer with no lid or tent and smaller tires is 775. Heres a link to their spec sheet that shows all the dimensions:

http://manleyorv.com/files/spec_sheet2014.pdf

Out the door was $8500 with the stabilizer and larger tent, and 3rd crossbar for the bigger tent.

The tent is the Tepui Gran Sabana.

How's the restore on your 416 coming? What I saw so far looked good.

Not bad trying to figure out what else I want to do to it before I paint the tub for it, just like a Jeep the are never done so I'm sure something will get added after paint,  need to do something with the inside of the tub even if I don't paint it before winter.

This is 9 levels of awesome.  you going to match paint it?

I have to learn to weld.  I need to get to work on mine.  Really all i have done is some paint and rust repair, and a new axel.

If you were suggesting that i could keep it at your place, that'd be one thing.

If i were in a financial position to get something like JW just got, I would sell the 416, but that is way off... however if you need to borrow it, you have my number
