Any rides planned in October? This sounds like fun.

Might head out today to do this trail, anyone inputs/ thoughts? It'll be my first time out there.

Get the permit, stay on the main trail (the other ones are just for atvs), and have fun!

Thanks for the input!

Thankfully, reading other posts on the forum pointed me to the need for a permit and Forest Service's website provides a list of places to get it.

Coming from NoVA, any suggestions on which end to start at?

I was trying to find those links on my phone, glad you found them already!

Generally I run it south to north so I can just come off the trail and take the back roads home, but the parking lot at the north end is much bigger and easier to find. There's no wrong way to do it really, just depends on what you want to do. It's short enough you can start from the north end, and just turn around at the south entrance to go back the way you came.
