Just thought Iíd go ahead and start a thread for the project 1969 Jeepster Commando.

Itís a roadster/convertible. I bought it without a top of any kind.  Although I will probably try to find a hardtop for it. Itís got a Dauntless 225 V6 and a TH400 automatic. It appears that it may have been a manual transmission originally.

I am trying not to do a frame off, but the more I take apart, the more I want to fix. I have floor boards to repair and wiring to straighten out. More to follow.

That body looks solid. Is it bondo free? Going to make a nice rig.

Yup. It's bondo free from what I can tell. It is not rust free. Floor boards and and where the cab meets the cargo area do need to be replaced. I've got metal on order for that. Also in the picture you can see that the rocker panels have been trimmed. I believe the PO did that to remove rust. They make replacement rocker panels, but I will most likely just put some frame mounted rock rails there to protect the underside.

I almost bought one from Texas in 01' The guy put 4" tube sliders there and it gave the appearance of the stock rockers. Then his bumpers matched in size. If I would not have had my 7, I would have bought it was a smoking deal.

Alex, it looks great. A buddy of my in Aquia Harbor has one that had a bullnose originally. He swapped it for a CJ front. I know he had a top or two for them, but have probably been sold. Either way, he has a lot of connections for parts and stuff. I know he welded some really nice sliders that look nice. His is definitely a trail rig, but he has spent many many hours working on it getting it right and undoing a lot of the PO stuff. Let me know if you want his info and I will pass it along.

Thanks everybody. And Chris if you want to go ahead and re-wire it that would be great.  Mr. Green The more I look at it the more I am surprised this thing hasn't burnt to the ground. Sketchy workmanship in the wiring. Dain your buddy may have introduced himself on the Jeepster forum. The Jeep sounds familiar. All in all it's good project to keep me busy this winter. I'll try to keep this updated as I go.

Looking for a top?  Here is a whole Jeepster that you could part out and keep the top for free.

If my garage was built I wouldn't have no issues helping take care of that. I would like to have that front clip. Looks like a lot of good parts there.

Just a quick update. Got the metal in for the floor repairs. Got the passenger side started, but still need to do more trimming.  That will be this weekend.

And the floor panel in for fitting.
