I have been working on this build for about 5-6 years now slowly collecting all the parts.  Constantly changing the direction of the build.

I started out with a ‘79 CJ7 that had the factory T18 and Dana 20 and they are really the only original parts left on this build.  I started out making repairs/reinforcing the original frame when I found a galvanized TDK frame for sale from a person who lost interest with his build.  I couldn’t pass up the deal.  I prepped and painted the frame, installed a 3.5” OME lift with HD shackles, AGR power steering box with HD bracket and a M.O.R.E. tie rod and drag link.  I purchased freshly rebuilt narrow track AMC 30 and 20 axles, swapped in the one-piece Moser axels in the AMC 20 and installed them.  The AMC 30 has factory disc brakes and I did the Nissan/Suzuki disc brake upgrade on the AMC 20.  No lockers in either axle yet, but considering going with mechanical in the AMC 20.  All new stainless steel brake and fuel lines were installed.  There are 33” Cooper Discovery STTs on black aluminum wheels.

I purchased an AMC 360 from someone who said it was recently rebuilt only to find out that it was done horribly.  The block was really the only part worth salvaging.  I purchased rebuilt Indy remanufactured AMC heads, new Scorpion roller rockers, Bulltear timing cover, remanufactured crank, Lunati Voodoo camshaft and lifters, Edelbrock Performer intake, MSD ready to run distributor and had the engine completely remanufactured by a local reputable engine builder.  Reputable engine builders in NOVA are a dying breed.  I also had both the T-18 and Dana 20 completely rebuilt and replaced some worn gears.

I painted the engine, tranny and transfer case and installed them on the chassis with M.O.R.E bomb proof motor mounts, poly HD transmission mounts and a TDK tube skid plate.   I changed the clutch to hydraulic, installed a serpentine belt system, AGR power steering pump and Jeep Air A/C compressor.  I also installed FiTech EFI (good up to 400 HP).  A 20-gallon poly tank with an in-tank electric fuel pump feeds the EFI.

That’s about where I’m at right now.  I have a YJ tub converted to a CJ, with original CJ-7 hood, grill and fenders that need to be painted.  Looking to get that done soon to finally complete this build and enjoy this rig!

Sounds like an awesome build. As for pictures, they need to be hosted on a third party site like flickr or the dead photobucket. I use tapatalk to view the forums I follow and that allows me to post and host there. Good luck.

And I can’t wait to see the pics. Love CJs.

Welcome! Your rig sounds a lot like my CJ-7. FI-Tech will be my next upgrade. Definitely go with the mechanical locker in the 20. What gear are you running in them now? Does your 20 have a limited slip or open? Also, If you do not mind cutting the body, a huge upgrade on the cheap is adding TJ flares. It will allow you to clear 35's with your current lift.

As for pictures I opened an account with imgur.com

Just running 3.54 gears right now.  With the T-18 I really don't want to go with any lower gears.  I want it to be able to run 65 mph down the road without too much rev of the motor.

You have done your home work!  Cheers 354's are a great gear when you don't have OD. I went from 354's to 410's in mine and I kind of hate them. I would rather have my 354's back. With a 360, T-18, 354's and 35's. I was able to pull 18 MPG and run 80 MPH on the road no problems.

I would just add a lock rite to the 20 and call it good. They have good on and off road manners, are cost effective and are simple to install.

I’ve owned a ‘76 and a ‘77 before this one so I have a little experience with what works and what doesn’t.  The ‘77 I owned had a 304, T-150 with 2.73 gears.  Was good on the highway, but was crap on a hill.  I burned that clutch up quick.  I have done quite a bit of research online which has made me switch directions in the long course of this build.  Trying to get it to suit my needs when it’s complete.  I was thinking lock rite or Aussie for the 20.

What is the color code for the paint? We recently picked up a '78 that's the same color as yours.
