With some help from a friend with a welder, we fabricated a new bracket for my Yakima bike carrier to work with my 8 on 6.5 pattern tire carrier.
Now I need to paint it along with my rear bumper.

Has anyone else just stared at this and thought: "I HAVE TO GET ONE OF THOSE!!" or is it just me?

Yes, it's an '09 so it has the 3.8l motor. I had a misfire code a number of years ago and the coil pack was the cause. I don't have the equipment or know how for a compression test. My first thought was to throw parts at it, plugs, wires and coil.

It is most likely the coil pack. My wife's car and my daughter's (both German cars) have gone through so many coil packs (error codes P0301-P0305) that I keep an extra coil pack on hand at all times. My daughter can swap her's in less than 20 minutes.

Both the Mini & VW have a coil per cylinder so I can swap coils between cylinders to see if the code change to match location making it easy to diagnose. But you have a single coil pack so the only real option you have is to purchase coil and swap it out. Heat is a killer so it is likely idling around the woods on a warm day pushed it over the edge.

Good luck

I think I got it squared away. Changed the coil pack, #2 plug and wire and took it for test drive. It's running much better although the check engine light is still on. I'll go back and change out the rest of the plugs and wires then go for a shake down run. If I remember correctly, it needs a few miles or trips with out issue before resetting. If not, I've got the Flashcal to reset it. Either way I should be good to get my inspection.
Grab a Wrench!  Cheers

Pull the battery when you're swapping all that. It's safer to do without the battery connected and should clear the cel

The only thing about a Yj that's reliable is its mechanic.

Joey to Mike- That's more like it! Never done.....just outta money at the moment.

atjeep-Every time a YJ passes inspection, an angel gets it's wings.

Haha plasma torches are nice, he's got really nice Miller welding equipment too - 18month old startup welding business with his son.

Unfortunately I only have 1200 sqft of living space, so I have to choose my tools wisely.

Installed a Bestop Supertop NX Soft Top w/ Tinted Windows - Matte Black Twill this morning. Makes for a very very quiet ride compared to the earlier top.

Finished up changing out the rest of the plugs and wires and then confirmed my Synergy ball joints need replacing. Those didn’t last long at all.
