Itís a good idea to split the group.
Iím in for Crawl Daddy depending on weather.
I have one badge of honor, two more would be a nice addition.

Veeep,
Looks like we have a great group.  I am going to do a little trail planning  to see  if we all can hit two of the three Badge of Honor trails and will share some thoughts on  the weather dependant climb of CD.

Hey guys, looking forward to the trail ride. I have a question. I donít have any comms. Is this going to be an issue or should I look into getting a CB?

Thanks,

Sarkis

Sarkis, Comms are always desirable but not required. The standard is the CB... prices range from a little to a lot... some of us are moving toward GMRS much clear digital comms. Cost is about the same for entry level CB.

Look at  the WX75 cb, great all in one handset easy to mount.   Rugged radios handheld is a great 5 watt GMRS radio.  Midland also makes a GMRS set similar to a CB.

With a large group  there will always be someone close to give a shout  to the trail lead.

Thanks for the info.  I'll look into comms.  Know me, I'll probably just bite the bullet.

I'll second (or third) what others have said about CB being a worthwhile addition.  I have the WX75 in mine and it does the trick pretty well.  Got it from rightchannel as a kit, which comes with really good install instructions.  You might be able to cobble together the pieces cheaper elsewhere, but the kit made it easier to find the right ones, etc.

https://www.rightchannelradios.com/collections/equipment-by-vehicle/products/1955-2006-jeep-cb-radio-kit

The kit comes with antenna, tail light mount, cable, and external speaker.  The only thing I added to the kit was a QD so I could remove the antenna without fuss.  I have the 4' Firestick.  My advice is to wire it direct to the battery to get cleanest power, and follow the instructions to a "T" for tuning the antenna SWR.

If you don't feel like messing with a CB right now, I have a pair of two way handhelds that you could use as parallel coms worst case, I'll bring them with me regardless.

 Tossing this out there.
With spring  just around the corner and  a little time before this trail ride, if anyone needs  help getting  their rig ready to roll or installing a new  "Fill inthe blank" I can offer up my garage and assistance on a weekend.  Have everything from a welder  to hand tools.  Can mount  but not balance tires, but alas no lift, just jacks and stands.

Cheers
Rob.

Welcome to the madness. Looks like this ride will have rigs and folks of all skill levels.
Rausch Creek is a great place, you can get into as little or as much trouble as you like. Great place to expand your skills.

Look back a few posts, there is an entry fee for Rausch..

Looking forward to seeing those of you who I met back at the end of November at RC. On that day only the NE property was open (and it was my first time), so anxious to see the W, S, and/or E properties, and a few Jeep Badge of Honor trails. Thanks for setting all of this up Veep.
