I'll be leaving Falls Church around 2PM on the 22nd.  I'll be "camping" at the Hampton Inn in Pine Grove Friday night.  I should be there by 5PM.  It's the nicest hotel in the area.  Comfort Inn isn't bad though.  After checking in we'll be heading to O'Neals Pub for some beers and their awesome wings!  If you'll be there Friday night and want to join us at O'Neals, let us know.  If you PM me I can provide you with my cell number.

Let's meet in the Rausch Parking lot around 7:30AM Saturday morning.  Most of you will need to manually disconnect and all of us will need to air down.  Bring whatever you need to air down and disconnect if you have it (tools, tire pressure gauge, deflators, etc).  You'll also want some heavy duty/thick wire ties to hold your swaybar links up while disconnected.  Harbor Freight sells some that are perfect.  I have about 4 sets people can use.  If you do not have what's needed no worries, we will have what's needed for you to borrow.  But we want to avoid waiting a long time for everyone to disconnect using one set of tools etc.  We all will need to check in at the office which opens at 8AM.

Required equipment for this trail ride includes:
Tow points front and rear
A 4WD vehicle in good working order (with a full tank of gas)
Full size spare tire and whatever you need to change it on the trail (jack, lug wrench, wheel lock key, etc.)
Bring your lunch and drinks.  We will all eat lunch together.

Recommended equipment includes:
CB Radio (it is nice to have but not necessary)
Recovery equipment
A blanket or towel to sit on while disconnecting
Whatever you need to air down
Heavy duty zip ties
Hand tools

We will have two groups, a green/blue group that I will lead and a hard blue/black/red group Rob will lead.  While in the parking lot we will have a quick driver's meeting and will form the two groups.

Even if you're in my green/blue group, those with the stock rigs can expect to "hit" or "drag" the underside of your rig a couple times which is fine.  Some of the lifted rigs will as well.  Most of the time green trails have more "pucker factor" due to the off-camber stuff than black trails.  You'll experience this on Trail 11, one of the Badge of Honor trails we will tackle.  You most likely will scratch your rig.  Some of the trails are tight through the brush.  The scratches will be clear coat scratches which can easily be waxed/polished/buffed out.  Except for soft top side window scratches.  Those scratches will add character and actually look kinda cool, LOL.

Last thing, this is an all day trail ride so please expect to be on the trails until around 4:30PM.  Bring your lunch, snacks, drinks and TP in case it's needed.

Let us know if you have any questions.  This ride is going to be a blast!  I'm looking forward to it!

Is RC doable for a mostly stock JK?

I have a oil / transmission skid, and rock Sliders.

No lift, factory BF KM2s, rear locker.

Yes! I wheeled my Jeep at RC a couple of times when it was fully stock on street tires, you will be more than fine! Regarding skids... I still need to update mine but we have good spotters on the team  Thumbs Up

Competition... hummm, so what did you have in mind?

Hills?
Woops?
Rocks?
Spotting?
Navigation?
Recovery?
Rally?

The problem with competition is good judgement usually falls by the wayside with youth. This leads to  broken rigs or  the old statement "Could some one please put me back on my wheels"... Now the recovery would be interesting but the drive home  in a busted rig would not.

My modifications are for ride comfort and as well as performance.  I have a goal in mind. At my age  bouncing down the road  and trail take a toll on the ole tired body and at the end of the day I like to walk more like a human that a gorilla...

Next steps after this might put me in a competition category but funding will dictate that.  A D60 rear and D60  outer end up front would certainly up the rig game... another $8-9K  I do not have right now... I need a sponsor or a second job or two.

Then there is always the JK8 conversion in the works....

and...
and...
and...

There will be take offs....

Parts that is...

Send it! is in my vocabulary  but that is currently reserved for 800-1000 yrds plus.

Cheers
