Our annual Chili Cook-off and Club Meeting will be held March 10 @ 1pm at Mustang Sally Brewing Company in Chantilly.

14140 Parke Long Ct, A-C
Chantilly, VA 20151

Come bring your best/hottest/tastiest chili and see how it stacks up against other club members'.  Chili will be voted on by attendees in several categories.  (Disclaimer: In the past this event has been peer judged, and we have needed as many as 30 to 40 samples of each chili for just the judging. If there is to be chili left over for actual consumption afterwards, I would suggest that folks plan to make a full crock pot worth of chili)

There are outlets for crock pots and warmers. Please be sure to bring a serving spoon or ladle and if a few folks could bring power strips and extension cords that would be helpful as well.

There will be at least two categories: Best Chili and Hottest Edible (you figure out the balance).

Please post up if you plan to attend, as well as if you plan to bring chili. For those bringing chili, when you arrive, please bring your crock pot to the "staging" area. It will be assigned a number, and you can write a brief description about the chili. Then the chili pot, the number and description will be set at the chili station. We assign numbers to create a blind taste test.

If you're not a chili person, you are welcome and encouraged to purchase food and/or beverages from the brewery.

Once the meeting portion of the event has concluded we commence with sampling and tasting/voting will begin. Once tasting has concluded we will invite folks back up for a bowl of chili while the votes are tallied.

If there are any other questions, please let us know.   Cheers

For those who need want to pick up their beans, meat, or anything they forgot   the Chantilly Wegman's is just down the street.

Lots of parking unlike the Fairfax Wegman's which is rumored to be closing soon.

Dain, I have yet to make chili for a cook-off but I have used leftover pulled pork in my chili along with some stewing beef several times and it is my favorite thing ever (no beans though).

Yeah. I may forgo the beans and make ďreal chiliĒ and use pulled pork in its place.

If we are not contributing any chili, can we bring something that might be needed?  Utensils, shredded cheese, sour cream, etc.  Thanks!

Of course. We can always use chips, cheese, sour cream, etc. people always forget spoons and serving stuff. As for bowls and utensils, i will defer to Robyn as she may plan on bringing the stuff from the trailer. But I am not sure.

Darn! I'd like to be there, but I have a calendar conflict. If it frees up, I'll do my best to make it.
