Any other nearby runs that you all know of?

Smiley T and I just did Peters Mill as well.  Tuesday morning/afternoon.  Did you happen to see a black bear while you were up there?  I was slow on getting my phone up and missed my chance at catching proof!  Rant Face  Thumbs Down

I have seen bear at Peter's Mill before. Several "hunters" were busted there this winter for baiting them.https://www.nvdaily.com/nvdaily/conservation-officer-details-probe-into-illegal-hunting-tactics/article_ae6ebb29-d2e1-5de0-a433-7ec6d42e82aa.html

Just be happy you didn't see any mountain lions.  Saw one near Front Royal  over 3 decades ago while looking for cave on a cold snowy January Day.  I was walking down a path and he crossed the path about 20 yards down from me. We both looked at each other. I stood my ground cause I knew I couldnt outrun. He moved on. Back then we didnt have cell phones with cameras.

Many of my friends who raise sheep  and cattle along the  Shenandoah Valley and even in Madison and Fauquier counties have reported mountain lion sightings. VA Game and US Park officials deny it despite photgraphs of paw prints.

I seen bear droppings in Clifton over multiple late springs.  Internet is a wondeful thing for determining who left what scat. Coyotes, eabrs and mountain lions Oh my!  But hey it keep the cat and small yappy dog pipultations manageable

Sawa dead bear on the side of the road going up Rt 7 on Mt Weather back a few years ago.

Congrats on breaking it in. Flagpole in Harrisonburg and Bald Mountain are some other good novice trails.

I didn't. I'm not a fan of large predators, especially with my kids. I was strapped though...just in case.

So I hear. I'll be back up soon. I did a 2nd run this past weekend. I want a few more good runs and then try Rausch. I've also got my sights set on a nice long trip to Colorado and Moab as well.

That's their official stance. My father in PA showed them trail cam pics. It was a "wink-wink" type of deniability. You can even hear them once in awhile from what I hear. I don't go into the woods without some lead casters...
