Just landed one of these big bad boys on a car trailer I bought. Has no solenoids but has a hand controller. I connected a 12v battery to the posts and have fwd and rvrs. Anyone have experience with this winch and recommend me getting the solenoids or just jump it to stay cheap? Also, if you have knowledge, let me know if you've ever run em on 12v only and how that worked out? I have 2 good 12v batteries just curious if it'll pull a gutted ZJ on my trailer on 12v.

Well I'm here to tell ya, even in 12v this winch is a beast. Pulled my non-gutted V8 GC up on the trailer no problem. If you ever happen upon one of these winches surplus, I would highly suggest picking it up if the price is right.
